    Capacity building workshops are held with resource groups like Basti Committee, Community Development Societies, Neighbourhood Groups and Committees, Village Electrical Committees, local clubs so that they can participate in their socio-economic development, initiate and manage change and take control of their situation.  
       
 
In order to use the latent strengths and resources at grassroots to foster a social safety net to reduce vulnerabilities of women and children in Goa, a unique intervention was undertaken with support from Unifem. The project targeted mobilising participation of a wide cross section of community to combat proliferation of sex tourism and human trafficking in Goa. NGOs, FBOs, AWWs, SHGs, police and college youths were sensitised on the vulnerabilities of women and children and trained to mobilise community participation in stopping violence against women and children.
 
 
 
Participation of women is critical to reduce vulnerability of women to HIV/AIDS. Local NGO partners of HIV Alliance India in Amritsar (AIWC) and Bhubaneswar (LEPRA) were trained in using culture and entertainment based approach to educate slum dwellers and mobilise behaviour change. Peer groups of adolescent girls and women were also empowered to work towards stopping of feminisation of HIV/AIDS.
 
 
Capacity building interventions undertaken as part of CHARCA Project at Udaipur sensitised stakeholders in factors leading to increased vulnerability to HIV/AIDS and their role in combating spread of the disease. Peer educators, grass root health workers were trained in theatre and entertainment based communication and in planning and disseminating correct and relevant information.
 
 
 
Community based disaster management groups are being trained at Harishchandrapur-I block in Malda and Kalchini block in Jalpaiguri as part of interventions being undertaken by district and block administration, CRS and other church partners to improve village resilience and mitigate impact of disaster in these areas..
 
 
 
Workshops were held with members of Basti Committee, Basti Federation, CDS, health and literacy workers, members of local NGOs working in slums of Kolkata and Greater Kolkata. Participants were trained in participatory planning and entertainment based communication techniques. Key goal was to mobilise them to provide leadership in management and maintenance of community assets and in mobilising their neighbours to adopt healthy behaviour.
 
 
SHG members in Purba Medinipur and North 24 Parganas are running self-employment ventures like tailoring, embroidery, pottery and other handicraft based activities participated in workshops to improve communication skills and create a brand for their products.
