Objectives
- Preserving living heritages like performing arts, oral traditions and rituals
- Promoting cultural diversity
- Facilitating inter-regional exchange, collaboration and partnerships
- Raising awareness on the role of culture in social inclusion and economic empowerment
Participation
- Six districts of the eastern Indian state of West Bengal, namely, Malda, Purulia, Bankura, Paschim (West) Medinipur, Purba (East) Medinipur and Nadia.
- The direct beneficiaries of the action are 3200 folk artists who have formed 233 self help groups (SHG) including 1837 Chhau dancers, 468 Jhumur dancers and singers, 310 Patuas, 270 Bauls and Fakirs, 181 Gambhira and 134 Domni performers. These SHG members are also the key stakeholders in the project.

Our Journey
EGG builds upon the observed best practices and learning of our past five years of experience of reviving and revitalizing performing folk art traditions as means of sustainable income generation for livelihood.
